Civil Engineering Conference

The Civil Engineering division of the Mechanical Engineering department at INSA Hauts-de-France is inviting its students to take part in a conference organized in partnership with Aulnoy-Lez-Valenciennes town hall. An event, entitled "Se rencontrer pour raconter son territoire", which will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 9:30am to 12pm, in the amphithéâtre 500, Bâtiment Matisse, on the Mont Houy campus.

Meeting with players from the Aulnoy-Lez-Valenciennes town hall

This conference will see the participation of emblematic figures from the commune of Aulnoy Lez Valenciennes:

  • Laurent Depagne, Mayor of the commune,
  • Ahmed Rahem, Adjoint au Maire delegué à la prospective financière, travaux et aménagement,
  • Kamel Boutouil, Directeur général des services,
  • Yann Rodon, Representative of the Amélie Fontaine architectural firm, designer of the new Émile Zola school group.

These speakers will talk to our Civil Engineering students about their professional practices, their experience in the "field" and the reality of urban projects. A real bridge between theory and practice, where each player will be able to share their vision of city transformation and the challenges of contemporary urban planning.

Two highlights

The event will be structured in 2 parts:

  1. The town's urban policies: guests will present how the town implements its development and urban management policies, offering a concrete vision of local issues.
  2. Projet de reconstruction de l'école Émile Zola: with a specific analysis of the projet de reconstruction du groupe scolaire Émile Zola, taken this year ascase study for the final projects of our master 2 GCAU (Génie Civil et Aménagement Urbain).

Each part will be followed by an interactive exchange, allowing everyone to ask their questions and share their thoughts. This space for dialogue is part of an immersive educational approach, opening a window onto everyday urban planning and architectural challenges.

For our Civil Engineering students, it's an opportunity to step outside the academic framework and explore practical, pragmatic approaches. By tackling the concrete aspects of urban planning, territorial management and school architecture, this conference offers a new perspective on the implications of their future profession.

See you on November 21, from 9:30am to 12pm, in amphitheatre 500, Bâtiment Matisse!
