Les Causeries du Génie civil!
The start of the 2024/2025 academic year in the Mechanical Department's GC (Civil Engineering ) division is marked by the introduction of COM'GC (Causeries Otium Mensuelles en Génie Civil). Otium being, for the Romans, all intelligent, fruitful, disinterested, wise and, above all, empathetic leisure.
Hosted by a teacher from the Civil Engineering (CE) division, each talk takes the form of a monthly one-hour meeting between students from two courses, who come together to discuss a topic co-defined beforehand by themselves and the teacher-host.
.So, in a totally otiumic spirit where attendance is not compulsory, these talks are designed to establish fruitful dialogues between students in the GC division in order to sharpen their outlook on various issues facing society (illectronism, critical postures, nudge, ultracrepidarianism and ipseditism in science, cognitive biases, post-truth, cognitics, positive education, transclass theory vs. reproduction theory, diplomania, etc.)...).
The event kicked off on Wednesday September 18 with the first talk, on the theme "emotional science and work", between students from the DEUST BC1 and those from the M1 GCAU FI. The idea is for each talk to give rise to the co-elaboration by participating students and the teacher-facilitator of a collaborative fresco on the theme addressed. The fresco will then be displayed on the INSA premises for the month following the talk.
Finally, a DICT (Ddictionary Intellectualizing Collaborative and Ttransmissive), collating all the scientific concepts drawn out during the various talks, will be published at the end of the academic year with a view to its communication to participating students and, above all, to next year's students.
