5th Rencontres mathématiques Valenciennoises
The 5th Rencontres mathématiques Valenciennoises will take place on Thursday, March 28 from 2:30 to 4:45 p.m. on the Mont Houy campus. These are organized as part of Mathematics Week, which aims to show a current, lively and attractive image of mathematics.
"Mathematics: the important thing is to take part!" will be this year's theme for 2024.
PROGRAM
- 2:30pm: Cellular automata and self-replication, by Jean-Paul Delahaye, Professor Emeritus, University of Lille, Laboratoire CRISTAL
. Cellular automata are both a game and a very serious subject posing interesting mathematical problems and perhaps helping to understand what living things are. The clever work to perfect and simplify von Neumann's model of self-replication makes us think about what self-replication is in general and in the biological world. - 3:30 pm: Modeling financial series, by Yacouba Boubacar Mainassara, Professor at CERAMATHS
- 3:50pm: Approximation theorems in C and beyond, by Séverine Biard, Senior Lecturer at CERAMATHS
- 4:10pm: Scientific computing to simulate wave propagation in connection with seismic imaging, by Mamadou N'Diaye, Senior Lecturer at CERAMATHS
This event is aimed at students in the INSA Hauts-de-France/UPHF mathematics degree program, pupils and students in preparatory classes at the Lycée Wallon and partner high schools, and their teaching teams.
On registration for other participants before March 18, 2024 by sending an email to @email
